The Meth Testing Process
If you are planning on buying property, renting property or suspect a property is meth contaminated, we can provide the following testing and assessment:
Multiple individual samples and on-site investigation is carried out to determine if meth is present or absent. Samples are collected by forensic trained staff and sent to IANZ accredited laboratory for testing.
The laboratory takes an extraction from each individual sample tube and combines them into one sample (lab composite) for analysis to provide an accurate, cost-effective screening method. An evidential report is completed by a Forensic Scientist and sent to the client. The Screening Assessment provides the client with a yes/no answer if meth is present and if it is then we will provide an accurate indication of the total level of contamination.
The individual samples can be analysed from the first site visit (within 24 hours) if total meth levels are above 1.5ug. The Screening Assessment is ideal for anyone purchasing a home, inter-tenancy checks and where meth contamination is suspected. Prices start from $281.75 (incl gst)

If meth contamination is detected from the Screening Assessment (Step 1) and above 1.5ug, then the individual samples collected at the first sight visit can be analysed within 24 hours.
This provides us with information of where the hot spots are at the property in order to determine if further testing is required. The Screening Individual Meth Assessment is ideal for anyone wanting to look at room by room testing to get a profile of the spread of meth contamination and make an informative decision on the best next step ensuring un-necessary costs are not spent. Additional sampling may be required depending on the meth levels from this assessment and to ensure all high-use areas are tested in accordance with NZS8510:2017. An evidential report is completed by a Forensic Scientist and sent to the client with any further recommendations.

If meth contamination is detected from the Screening Individual Meth Assessment (Step 2) and above 1.5ug/100cm2 in one or more individual samples collected then a comprehensive investigation is required. Further testing and sampling is performed through-out the property to determine what level of meth is present. A comprehensive evidential report is completed by a Forensic Scientist and sent to the client. This report details the level of contamination throughout the property to determine the most suitable clean-up plan and health and safety risks.

Individual and / or lab composite samples are taken in the areas that required decontamination and analysed to check that the cleaning process has been effective in reducing meth levels to below Ministry of Health guidelines (2016) 1.5ug/100cm2. An evidential report is completed by a Forensic Scientist and sent to the client.
